Jose de Sousa is a Portuguese red blend produced by José Maria da Fonseca, one of Portugal's most storied wine estates. The wine originates from the historic José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes Cellar in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, founded in 1878 and acquired by Fonseca in 1986.

The blend is composed of Trincadeira, Aragonês, and Grand Noir grapes, with a portion fermented in traditional clay amphorae alongside stainless steel tanks — a centuries-old technique unique to the Alentejo region that imparts distinctive earthy character. The wine is aged for eight months in new American and French oak (30% new), followed by nine months of bottle aging before release.

Deep ruby in color, Jose de Sousa shows aromas of dark fruit, dates, fig, chocolate, and warm spice. On the palate it is ripe and full-bodied with velvety tannins, bold black fruit, and an open, generous character. Wood aging adds spice and complexity. The wine is certified vegan-friendly. Best served at 16°C alongside game meats and aged cheeses.
