Cantina Vignaioli Elvio Pertinace is a celebrated cooperative winery founded in 1972 in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy, with 15 growers cultivating approximately 170 acres of vineyards across the rolling hills of Alba. The Pertinace Barbera d'Alba D.O.C. is crafted from 100% hand-harvested Barbera grapes grown within the spectacular landscape of the Langhe, fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, then aged for six months in large Slavonian oak casks to develop depth and complexity.

Rich, complex, and superbly balanced, this wine opens with inviting aromas of blackberry, plum, spice, vanilla, and a hint of red licorice. On the palate it delivers vibrant fresh red fruit — strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry — alongside warm spice and licorice, all supported by lively acidity and a smooth, silky mouthfeel. The finish is long and dry, with lingering notes of candied cherry, vanilla, and gentle oak. At 14% alcohol by volume, this is a versatile, food-friendly red that pairs beautifully with pasta, pizza, spicy sausage, and hearty Italian fare. Winemaker Cesare Barbero leads production.
