Rare Millésime Brut is a prestige cuvée Champagne from France, crafted as a vintage-dated expression from the Rare Champagne house — a storied label originally created by Piper-Heidsieck and now operating as its own independent maison. Each edition is made exclusively from the finest free-run juice of the press ("la cuvée") and sourced from 11 carefully selected Crus across the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, including seven Grand Cru and three Premier Cru villages.

The 2013 vintage is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay drawn from parcels in Villers-Marmery, Avize, Oger, and Chouilly, and Pinot Noir from Verzy, Verzenay, Ambonnay, and Bouzy. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and was aged on the lees for a minimum of eight years before disgorgement in December 2022, followed by an additional year under cork before release. Dosage is 9g/L, placing it in the extra brut style. ABV is 12%.

The wine presents an intensely bright light golden color with fine, sustained effervescence. On the nose, it opens with delicate white flowers and hints of black tea, citrus, kiwi, and kumquat, evolving into aromas of lime blossom, green tea, fern, and white fruits, before revealing deeper notes of chestnut honey, sweet spices, vanilla, and marzipan. On the palate it is smooth and vibrant — medium to full-bodied with a pillowy mousse — showing flavors of meringue, whipped cream, blood orange, and kumquat, with a finish of aromatic smokiness, fresh minerality, and subtle bitterness. Drinking window: 2024–2044 and beyond.

The 2013 Rare Millésime earned 98 points from Jeb Dunnuck, a Platinum Medal and 97 points from Decanter, and 96 points and the Vintage Classic Blend Champagne Trophy from the International Wine Challenge. Pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, white fish, ceviche, and delicate seafood preparations.
