Humulin 70/30 KwikPen is a combination insulin product manufactured by Eli Lilly, sold at Costco as a box of 5 prefilled injection pens, each containing 3 mL of U-100 insulin (100 units/mL). It combines 70% intermediate-acting insulin isophane (NPH) with 30% short-acting regular human insulin, produced via recombinant DNA technology to be structurally identical to naturally occurring human insulin. This insulin is prescribed to help control blood sugar levels in adults with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, used in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise program. The combination formula begins working within 10 to 20 minutes of subcutaneous injection, reaches peak effect at approximately 2 hours, and provides blood sugar control for up to 24 hours. It is not compatible with insulin pumps and should not be mixed with other insulin formulations.

Each dose is injected under the skin in the abdomen, thigh, buttocks, or outer upper arm. Injection sites should be rotated with each use. After injection, a meal should be consumed within 30 to 45 minutes. The pen should be gently rolled 10 times before each use to mix the suspension — the insulin should appear uniformly cloudy after mixing and should never be used if it appears clear or contains visible particles.

Unopened pens should be refrigerated and used before the expiration date, or stored at room temperature per the included instructions for use. In-use pens should be kept at room temperature and must not be refrigerated. Never share this pen with another person, even with a needle change. This medication is not approved for use in persons under 18 years of age.
