Poças Vale de Cavalos is a Douro DOC red blend from Poças Junior, a family-owned Portuguese winery established in 1918. The fruit is sourced from the Douro Superior subregion of the Douro Valley, drawn from old vines ranging between 40 and 60 years of age, and the wine is vinified at Quinta das Quartas.

The blend is composed of 50% Touriga Nacional, 20% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz, and 10% Tinta Barroca. Following fermentation, 80% of the wine is aged in stainless steel and 20% in second-use French Allier oak casks. The finished wine carries 13.5% alcohol by volume and just 0.6 g/L of residual sugar, making it a dry style. Contains sulfites.

Deep ruby in color, the wine presents a fresh, fruity nose with notes of blueberries, raspberries, red and black cherry, and smoky dried herbs. On the palate it is bold and juicy with dark fruit, integrated spice, touches of balsamic and leather, and a smooth texture supported by good acidity. The finish is dry and long with lingering ripe fruit and spice.
