Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuisse is a white Burgundy wine from the prestigious Mâconnais region of Southern France, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The appellation spans the villages of Fuisse, Solutre, Pouilly, Vergisson, and Chaintre, where vines are planted on often very steep slopes with calcareous clay soil containing pebbly scree.
The nose is extremely fresh, featuring scents of white-fleshed fruit and spices underpinned by a discrete hint of vanilla and oak. The palate boasts lovely minerality and a perfect balance between vivacity and roundness, with a highly aromatic and very pleasing finish. Hints of ripe pear and russet-pear-peel texture contribute to a rounded, mellow character.
Grapes are handpicked and fermented in oak barrels (30%) and thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks (70%), then aged 8 to 9 months on fine lees. The wine is 13.0% ABV and pairs well with finely prepared fish, seafood, white meats, and poultry grilled or served in a light sauce. Serve between 52-55°F. Best enjoyed young on the fruit or cellared 3 to 5 years. Consistently rated 88-91 points by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and James Suckling.
