Gardenias are prized for their intensely fragrant, waxy white flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. The blossoms may deepen to a creamy golden-yellow with age. Foliage is evergreen with glossy, dark green leathery leaves that remain ornamental year-round.

This plant thrives in bright light with a minimum of 5 to 6 hours of direct sun daily. It prefers well-draining, acidic soil (pH 5.0–6.5) and moderate watering — allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings.
