Altocedro Cabernet Sauvignon is a terroir-driven red wine from La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina—one of the coolest, highest-altitude subregions in Argentina's wine country. The estate was founded in 1999 by Karim Mussi, a third-generation Lebanese immigrant who pioneered La Consulta as a destination for distinctive, site-specific wines. Altocedro's minimalist winemaking philosophy centers on original old-vine rootstocks, indigenous yeasts, and century-old concrete fermentation tanks to let the land express itself authentically.
The Cabernet Sauvignon is fermented in small concrete vats and aged in French oak barrels, a combination that builds structure and complexity without masking the grape's natural character. On the nose and palate, expect dark fruit of plum, blackberry, blueberry, and black cherry layered with earthy minerality, anise, leather, and tobacco, with a meaty, chewy texture. Acidity emerges mid-palate, leading to a long, dry finish. The wine pairs exceptionally well with lamb, grilled red meats, and hearty, savory dishes. Sold in a case of 12 bottles, each 750ML.
