Attilio Ghisolfi Barolo Bussia is a prestigious single-vineyard Barolo DOCG from the Bussia cru in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes — the noble variety behind all great Barolo — this wine showcases the power and elegance that has earned Barolo its reputation as the "King of Italian Wines."
The wine presents a deep ruby-garnet color with a rich and expansive nose offering floral aromas alongside classic Nebbiolo characteristics of red cherry, dried rose, and tobacco. On the palate it is full-bodied and well-structured, with layers of red fruit, earth, spice, and characteristic tar notes. The tannins are present and age-worthy, integrating into a long, dry, quintessentially Italian finish. Reviewers have noted vintages of this wine earning scores in the 93–94-point range, praising it as a stunning overdelivery for the price.
The Bussia vineyard is one of the most celebrated crus in all of Barolo, situated in the Monforte d'Alba commune. Ghisolfi ages the wine in large traditional Slavonian oak barriques for approximately 30 months, as required by DOCG regulations, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving varietal character. This bottle is best paired with braised meats, game, aged cheeses, or hearty mushroom dishes, and can be further cellared to allow the tannins to soften over time.
