Campo Arriba is a bold Spanish red wine from Bodegas Señorío de Barahonda, sourced from the Yecla DO in southeastern Spain. The wine is named for the northernmost and highest subregion of Yecla, with vineyards planted at approximately 750 meters (2,460 feet) above sea level — "campo arriba" meaning "high ground" in Spanish.
The blend is composed of 70% Monastrell (Mourvèdre), 20% Syrah, and 10% Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), all sourced from old vines. The wine spends three months aging in French oak barrels, contributing subtle structure and complexity. It presents an expressive nose of clove, earth, smoke, and ripe blue and black fruit, with flavors of blueberry, plum, prune, licorice, and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and dry with good acidity and a smoky oak finish. The wine has earned 93 points from Robert Parker and carries an alcohol content of 14%.
An exceptionally versatile wine that pairs well with red meats, pork, grilled dishes, and robust cheeses.
