Early Times Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a tribute to America's landmark 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act, which set the gold standard for bourbon quality. This case contains twelve 1-liter bottles, each bottled at 100 proof โ a requirement of the act, along with aging a minimum of four years in federally bonded warehouses and production by a single distiller in a single distilling season.
The brand traces its roots to 1860 when John Henry "Jack" Beam built his own distillery near Bardstown, Kentucky. Acquired by Brown-Forman in 1923, Early Times Bottled in Bond became the best-selling bourbon in America by 1953. In 2020, the brand was purchased by Sazerac, Inc., with production now carried out at Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown using the original mashbill and proprietary yeast strain.
The mashbill is composed of 79% corn, 11% rye, and 10% malted barley, crafted with pure water and fermented with a proprietary yeast. On the nose it offers light caramel corn, citrus rind, honey, and soft oak. The palate is mellow and approachable, with soft caramel corn, shortbread cookie, hints of chocolate and oak, and a trace of cinnamon spice. The finish is clean and lingering with notes of caramel corn. It is available exclusively in 1-liter bottles, making it a strong value in the bottled-in-bond category.
