De La Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a classic Southern Rhône red blend from one of the appellation's most respected family estates. Domaine de la Charbonnière is situated in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France, and has been family-owned since Eugène Maret purchased the vineyards in 1912. Today, Michel Maret and his daughters Caroline and Véronique manage the estate's 19 hectares of vines spread across the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
The domaine takes its name from a small parcel called "Carbonière," a French term loosely translated as an area of burning charcoal. The wine is a Grenache-dominant Southern Rhône blend, crafted in the traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape style from old vines grown on the appellation's signature galets roulés (large rounded stones) that retain daytime heat to promote even ripening. The result is a rich, complex red with layers of dark fruit, garrigue, spice, and earthy mineral character typical of the region. It is widely regarded as one of the best value wines produced in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, pairing quality and terroir-driven character at a fair price point.
Pairs well with roasted lamb, braised beef, duck confit, aged cheeses, and hearty Provençal dishes. Best served at 16–18°C (61–64°F). Suitable for cellaring or drinking upon release.
