The Louis Latour Corton Grand Cru "Domaine Latour" is a prestigious red Burgundy from Maison Louis Latour, one of the most storied négociants in Burgundy's history. Sourced from south-easterly facing parcels on the celebrated hill of Corton in the Aloxe-Corton village of the Côte de Beaune, this wine is an assemblage of grapes drawn from multiple distinguished Corton terroirs — including Grèves, Perrières, Clos du Roi, Bressandes, and Chaumes — ensuring consistent quality and complexity across vintages. The vines average 40 years of age, are planted in marl and limestone soils, and are hand-harvested at a restrained yield of approximately 35 hectoliters per hectare.
Vinification follows traditional Burgundian practice with open-vat fermentation, followed by 10 to 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels (15% new) from the Louis Latour cooperage, lightly toasted to complement rather than overwhelm the fruit. The result is a full-bodied, deeply expressive Pinot Noir displaying a dark ruby color with aromas of black cherry, liquorice, and coffee, opening onto a palate of velvety tannins with hints of liquorice and mocha. Critically acclaimed across multiple vintages, recent releases have earned scores of 93–95 points from Wine Spectator and James Suckling. Serve at 16–17°C alongside beef bourguignon, wild boar, or aged cheeses, and cellar for 10 to 15 years for full development.
