Lagavulin 8 Year Old is a peaty, powerful Islay single malt Scotch whisky produced at the legendary Lagavulin distillery on the southern shores of Islay, Scotland. This expression was released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the distillery's founding by John Johnston in 1816, inspired by Alfred Barnard's 1880s visit in which he documented an "exceptionally fine" eight-year-old from the distillery.

On the nose, it opens with soft, clean notes and faint hints of milk chocolate and lemon before developing into fragrant, tea-scented smoke with maritime, nose-drying aromas and subtle cereal character. The palate is light-bodied yet pleasantly oily, delivering a magnificently full-on Lagavulin character — sweet, smoky, and warming — with a growing peaty pungency and notes of charred wood and minty dark chocolate. The finish is clean, very long, and smoky, with chocolate tannins and a subtle minted smoke that lingers.

Bottled at 48% ABV (96 proof), this whisky earned a Double Gold at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and 97 Points with the Chairman's Trophy at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Best enjoyed neat or with just a drop of water in a whisky nosing glass. Sold as a case of 6 x 750ml bottles.
