The Hybrid Tea Rose is a classic flowering perennial shrub celebrated for its large, high-centered blooms carried on long, straight stems — the quintessential florist's rose. Sold in a ready-to-plant 3-gallon (11.3L) grower's pot, this rose is ideal for landscape beds, cutting gardens, or large patio containers. Plants typically grow 3 to 8 feet tall with an upright, free-branching habit, and produce single, elegantly formed flowers in a wide range of colors depending on the selected variety. Most hybrid tea roses offer mild to strong fragrance.
Hybrid tea roses are repeat bloomers, flowering from spring through fall with proper care. They thrive in full sun, requiring at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily, and prefer well-draining, loamy soil enriched with compost or aged organic matter. Water deeply every 7 to 10 days in-ground, or more frequently for container-grown plants during warm weather. Fertilize regularly throughout the growing season — every two to three weeks in summer — to sustain continuous bloom production. When planting from the container, dig a hole two to three times as wide as the root ball and amend the backfill with compost. Most hybrid teas are budded onto hardy rootstock for improved vigor and disease resistance, and are hardy in USDA zones 5 through 9. Mulch around the base to protect roots in colder climates. Prune in late winter or early spring while dormant to encourage vigorous new growth and strong stems.
