Torres Pazo das Bruxas is a crisp, aromatic Albariño white wine from the DO Rías Baixas appellation in Galicia, northwest Spain, produced by Familia Torres. The project was launched in 2012 by the fifth generation of the Torres family, crafting a wine that expresses the Atlantic character of this cool, humid region. Grapes are sourced primarily from the Val do Salnés subzone and grown on traditional pergola trellises to preserve fruit freshness and prevent rot.
The wine pours a brilliant pale gold with a delicate, fragrant nose of lime blossom, lemon marmalade, and fresh floral notes. On the palate it delivers lively citrus and green apple fruit balanced by a racy acidity and clean mineral finish typical of the best Albariño. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve the variety's signature freshness and aromatics. It has earned scores of 93 points at the International Wine Challenge (2024 vintage), 90 points from Decanter (2023), and 90 points from JamesSuckling.com (2023), as well as Best of Show Rías Baixas at Mundus Vini for the 2022 vintage.
The name Pazo das Bruxas draws on Galician folklore, paying homage to the witches said to have gathered in the woods surrounding old stone manor houses — pazos — conjuring spirits through dances and spells. The wine pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, shellfish, roasted poultry, and soft or semi-firm cheeses. Sold in cases of six 750ml bottles.
