Chateau Palmer is a prestigious Third Growth (Troisieme Grand Cru Classe) estate in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. Widely regarded as producing wines that rival First Growth quality, Palmer is one of the most celebrated properties in the Medoc, situated on the Cantenac plateau with a complex mosaic of gravel, sand, and clay soils across 66 hectares of vines.
The grand vin is typically a blend of approximately 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot, though proportions vary by vintage. The unusually high percentage of Merlot for a Left Bank estate contributes to Palmer's signature elegance, silky texture, and aromatic complexity. Vinification takes place in 54 temperature-controlled, cone-shaped stainless steel vats on a parcel-by-parcel basis, followed by aging in French oak barrels.
The estate has been fully biodynamic since 2014, with some vines over 70 years old planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Chateau Palmer is jointly owned by the Mahler-Besse and Sichel families and managed by winemaker Thomas Duroux. This 750ml bottle showcases one of Bordeaux's most refined and age-worthy wines.
