Zenato Alanera is a Rosso Veronese IGT red blend from the Valpolicella region of Veneto, Italy. The name "Alanera" translates to "black wing," an homage to the raven and a nod to the region's prized indigenous grape, Corvina. This is a case of 12 bottles at 750 mL each.
The wine is crafted in the style of a "baby Amarone," blending 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone, 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are partially dried (appassimento) for 45 to 60 days to concentrate sugars, then aged in oak for 12 months. The result is a full-bodied wine with elegant, velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of fresh and dried cherries, prunes, sweet spice, and hints of coffee and tobacco. Alcohol is approximately 13.5%.
This wine pairs beautifully with medium-aged cheeses, cured meats, braised meats, hearty stews, and rich pasta dishes.
