Large 24-inch citrus tree planted in a substantial 42-gallon (159-liter) container, featuring assorted varieties including Meyer Lemon, Valencia Orange, Persian Lime, Bearss Lime, Grapefruit, Kumquat, and other popular citrus cultivars. This premium-sized specimen tree is mature and ready for fruit production, significantly larger than typical 3-5 gallon starter trees sold at most retailers.
Grafted semi-dwarf citrus trees are well-suited for container growing and can reach 6-10 feet tall with proper care. These trees thrive with 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily and require well-draining soil that stays moist but never soggy. Container growing allows gardeners to overcome poor soil conditions, limited landscape space, or cold climates by bringing trees indoors during freezing weather. The large 42-gallon container provides ample root space for long-term growth and stability.
Citrus trees in containers benefit from consistent watering schedules, typically once or twice weekly with deep watering. Feed monthly during growing seasons with slow-release citrus fertilizer. Popular varieties suitable for containers include Improved Meyer Lemon, Lisbon Lemon, Flame Grapefruit, Calamondin, Eustis Limequat, and various mandarin cultivars. Trees typically begin producing fruit within 1-2 years when properly cared for.
