Sobon Estate Rocky Top Zinfandel is a bold, expressive red wine from Amador County in California's Sierra Foothills, one of the premier regions for old-vine Zinfandel. Produced by Sobon Estate, a pioneering family winery with deep roots in the Shenandoah Valley, this wine is crafted from grapes grown on rocky hillside terrain that lends the wine its name and distinctive character.

The 2021 vintage earned 91 points (Gold Medal) from Tastings.com. It opens with aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, blackberry, blueberry, plum, and green and black tea leaves. On the palate, flavors of cherry, cocoa, coconut, marzipan, and candied pepper bacon with grilled herbs lead to a warming, medium-length finish with crunchy, chewy tannins and light oak influence. The wine is dry and full-bodied with 15% alcohol, offering enough depth and structure to improve with short-term cellaring.
