12 Linajes Crianza is a Spanish red wine produced by Viñedos y Bodegas Gormaz from the prestigious Ribera del Duero Denominación de Origen in Spain's Northcentral plateau. Crafted entirely from Tempranillo grapes—known locally as Tinta del País—it is sourced exclusively from the oldest vines on the Gormaz estate, situated in the province of Soria at elevations ranging from 2,780 to 3,150 feet above sea level. The extreme continental climate, with dry summers, freezing winters, and soils of alternating limestone and marl, yields grapes with notably thick skins and concentrated flavor.
The name "12 Linajes" (12 Lineages) honors the 12 founding families who came together in 1979 to establish the Ribera del Duero DO, one of Spain's most celebrated wine appellations. Bodegas Gormaz was one of those original founding members, having been established in 1972. Since 1999, the wines have been made by María José García Moreno, an agricultural engineer with a master's degree in viticulture and enology and one of Spain's pioneering female winemakers.
As a Crianza-classified wine, this Tempranillo is aged in oak barrels before release, developing layers of dark fruit, spice, and subtle oak complexity. It pairs well with grilled meats, lamb, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. Each bottle contains 750ml.
