Critics have praised this wine for its outstanding value among Washington Syrahs. James Suckling awarded it 92 points, noting dried violets, cherries, blueberries, smoked meat, and cracked pepper on the nose, with a medium-to-full-bodied structure, fine tannins, and fresh acidity. Jeb Dunnuck rated it 91 points, highlighting its juicy, peppery, black and blue fruit character with gamey and smoky notes, brought up mostly in neutral oak for balance. Vinous Media and the IWC awarded it 90 points.

The wine is aged for approximately thirteen months in mostly neutral oak to soften tannins while preserving fruit character. It pairs excellently with beef ribs, rack of lamb, and other grilled or roasted meats.
