J. Lohr Signature Cabernet Sauvignon is a limited-release, prestige red wine from the Paso Robles AVA in California, produced to honor the 80th birthday of winery founder Jerry Lohr. It represents the ultimate expression of Cabernet Sauvignon in the J. Lohr red wine portfolio and is crafted entirely from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

The wine is sourced from the J. Lohr Stairway Vineyard, situated at the boundary of the Adelaida and Willow Creek Districts in the western Paso Robles AVA. The vineyard was geologically formed from an ancient uplifted seabed, featuring steep terraces and lime-laden calcareous soils that define it as one of the great vineyard sites in the region. Close coastal proximity keeps growing season temperatures cooler than much of the rest of Paso Robles, contributing to the wine's elegance and structure.

Grapes are hand-harvested, then destemmed and berry-sorted. A 15% saignée brings concentration to the must prior to primary fermentation, followed by an eleven-day maceration for luxurious color and ideal tannin extraction. The wine is aged 20 months in French oak barrels — 90% new — from prestigious cooperages including Berger, Ermitage, Le Grange, Sylvain, and Taransaud. Production is extremely limited at approximately 2,000 three-bottle cases.

The wine offers rich aromas of blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry with hints of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, expect notes of red berries, licorice, dark chocolate, blackberry, wood smoke, and black currant, with a persistent, structured finish. Certified California Sustainable.
