Nikka Miyagikyo is a soft and fruity single malt Japanese whisky from Nikka's second distillery, located in the mountains of Sendai in the Miyagi prefecture. This non-age statement whisky is known for its light, fruity, and elegant profile with a touch of peated malt in the mix. It was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge.

The whisky is distilled using tall copper pot stills with extended necks that create a lighter, smoother spirit. After distillation, Miyagikyo sees significant time in ex-Sherry casks with some ex-Bourbon cask influence for added complexity. It has a peachy amber color and an aromatic nose with notes of pear, peach, lemon and orange zest, fresh flowers, honey, grainy malt, almond, cinnamon, clove, and caramel. On the palate, it is semi-sweet with a soft texture and medium body, featuring more peaches and pears, honeyed malt, pecan, dark chocolate, vanilla, and caramel, with a hint of smoke and brine. The finish has a light burn with fruity and oaky notes.

Bottled at 45% ABV, Miyagikyo is less smoky than its sibling Yoichi, making it an excellent choice for those who prefer lighter, fruitier whiskies. It pairs well with smoked fish, seafood, and spicy dishes.
