Capay Valley Vineyards Sparkling Tempranillo is an estate-grown, estate-vinted, and estate-bottled sparkling red wine from the Capay Valley AVA in Yolo County, California. Produced using the French Charmat method, this 750ML bottle delivers Prosecco-like effervescence with the distinctive character of Tempranillo grapes. The winery, established in 1998 by Tom Frederick and Pam Welch and overseen by winemaker Terri Strain, is one of very few producers in the United States making sparkling wines by this traditional method. All vineyard tasks including pruning, shoot thinning, and harvesting are done by hand, with grapes harvested at night to ensure the fruit is cool at the start of the winemaking process. The sparkling varieties are among the winery's most popular offerings.
