Costco's #2 Strawberry Assorted Varieties is a potted strawberry plant sold in a 1.5-gallon (5.7-liter) nursery container — the standard "#2" trade pot size. The assortment may include popular everbearing varieties such as Albion and Seascape, prized for their large, firm, sweet berries and compact growth habit that makes them ideal for containers and hanging baskets.
These strawberry plants thrive in full sun, requiring at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. Container soil dries out quickly, so water regularly — daily watering may be needed during the hottest stretches of summer. A balanced all-purpose fertilizer applied monthly before flowering and every two weeks once fruiting begins will promote healthy yields. Planting times vary by U.S. region: January–April in the South, March–May in the mid-country, and April–June in northern regions.
Plants can be left in the pot, hung on a porch or balcony, or transplanted into a larger container or raised bed. As the plant matures it sends out runners ("babies") that can be propagated and replanted to expand your patch. Strawberries grown this way are easy to maintain and reward gardeners with fresh fruit through the season.
