Seghesio Family Vineyards Vermentino is an Italian white varietal wine grown estate at Keyhole Ranch Vineyard in the northern Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, California. The vineyard's microclimate is shaped by cool coastal breezes and frequent summer-morning fog, with soils of gravel and clay loams that lend mineral character to the wine. Sold in a case of 12 bottles, each 750ml.
The grapes are handpicked at night to preserve vibrant flavors, then whole cluster pressed using a long, slow, low-pressure extraction in a pneumatic bladder press. Multiple harvest dates from a single vineyard allow the winemakers to layer flavors based on differing maturity levels in the fruit. The wine is vinified with 16% fermented and aged in concrete egg and 84% fermented in stainless steel tanks, racked off heavy lees after three months, lending textural complexity while maintaining bright varietal character.
On the nose, the wine opens with a vibrant medley of fresh pear, lime leaf, and lime zest, complemented by delicate notes of lemon peel, lemongrass, and fragrant orange blossom. The palate is bright and juicy with hints of lychee and fresh citrus adding complexity. Crisp acidity enhances the lively, refreshing finish. The wine pairs beautifully with steamed clams, mussels, oysters, grilled halibut, crab, English pea risotto, or pasta with pesto. Fresh ricotta or burrata are excellent cheese pairings. Alcohol: 13% by volume.
