Borne of Fire Cabernet Sauvignon is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Chapman Creek vineyard in the proposed "The Burn" AVA within Washington State's Columbia Valley. The wine takes its name from the annual blazes historically set by early settlers to their fields — a tradition that gave the land its character and now lends the wine its identity. Today the region is planted to grapes and boasts one of the longest and warmest growing seasons in Washington State.

Produced by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and fermented on the stems, the wine is aged in large format, lightly toasted Hungarian oak barrels, a technique that imparts subtle structure without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a medium-bodied red described on the bottle as "rugged yet elegant." It carries 13.5% alcohol by volume.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of jammy ripe red and black fruit, pomegranate, herbs, vanilla, and spice. On the palate, flavors of cherry cola, plum, sweet blackberry, licorice, and savory spice unfold across a smooth, silky texture with powdery tannins. The finish is dry, long, and savory.
