Banhez Mezcal Ensemble Joven is a distinctive artisanal mezcal from Oaxaca, Mexico, crafted from a blend of Espadin and Barril agave varieties. Barril agave (also known as Agave karwinskii) is a rare variety that contributes a unique earthiness and complexity rarely found in single-agave mezcals, while the dominant Espadin provides the classic smoky, fruity mezcal character.

Produced using traditional Zapotec methods, the agave hearts are roasted in underground earthen pits, crushed with a stone tahona mill, fermented in open wooden vats with wild yeasts, and double-distilled in clay pot stills. This process imparts the signature rustic, smoky profile that defines the style. Bottled at 42% ABV (84 proof), the spirit presents aromas of tropical fruit, light smoke, and herbal notes, with a palate of roasted agave, mango, citrus, and a smooth, lingering finish.
