Animo is a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Michael Mondavi Family Estate, sourced from a 15-acre vineyard atop Atlas Peak in Napa Valley at elevations between 1,270 and 1,350 feet. The vineyard sits on stony, volcanic terroir overlooking the town of Oakville and was planted in 1999 with Clone Four Cabernet Sauvignon grafted on 110R Rootstock.

The wine is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (95%) with 5% Merlot, aged 20 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% neutral) at 14.7% ABV. On the nose, it bursts with red fruits like raspberry and currants, with hints of violet and vanilla. The palate reveals hibiscus, marionberry, and undertones of earthiness, portobello mushroom, peppery spice, and oak. It is approachable in its youth and suitable for several years of aging.
