Melkbus Truffle Gouda is a creamy Dutch farmhouse cheese made from raw cow's milk and generously studded with real Italian black truffle shavings. This semi-firm artisanal cheese starts as traditional Boerenkaas (Raw Milk Farmer Cheese), and just before pressing and shaping, shavings of premium Italian black truffles are sprinkled throughout the curd. The name Melkbus translates to "Milk Can" in Dutch, and each cheese is crafted on individual family farms outside the town of Gouda.

The cheese features a smooth, semi-firm texture with a pale, creamy yellow paste dotted with small holes and visible specks of black truffle. Aged for 3 months, it offers a mild, creamy flavor profile with earthy, umami notes and hints of walnut, allowing the luxurious truffle flavor to shine. The cheese is encased in a yellow wax mantle for protection and presentation. It shreds and melts easily, making it versatile for both cheese plates and culinary applications like truffled omelets, mac and cheese, or risotto. Pairs beautifully with medium-bodied wines such as Cabernet Franc or Sauvignon, and complements nuts and apples.
