Wapisa Malbec is a 100% Malbec sourced from the Los Acantilados Estate in San Javier, Rio Negro, Patagonia, Argentina. "Wapisa" is the indigenous Patagonian word for "whale," a nod to the whales that frequent the nearby Atlantic coast and the local legend of a wapisa that once lived on land. The winery is the only coastal winery in Patagonia, situated just 25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, where its wines are shaped by a distinctive combination of lime clay soils, strong thermal amplitude, and cool maritime breezes that sweep through the vineyards each night — giving the wine a characteristic touch of salinity and delicate varietal expression.

Estate-grown at Finca Los Acantilados, the fruit is aged for 8 months in oak barrels before bottling, resulting in a medium to full-bodied red with 13.9% alcohol and just 2.0 g/L residual sugar. On the nose, vivid aromas of fresh dark plum, blackberry, and herbal spice open into a rich, layered palate with notes of chocolate and baking spices, supported by firm tannins and a long, dry, juicy finish with lingering earthy minerality.

Wapisa Malbec has earned widespread critical acclaim, including 94 points from James Suckling and recognition among the Top 100 Wines of Argentina for the 2022 vintage, and 91 points from Wine Advocate for the 2023 vintage.
