Bibi Graetz Testamatta is a celebrated Super Tuscan red wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from old-vine estate plots across Tuscany, Italy. Classified as Toscana IGT, the wine is produced by the visionary winemaker Bibi Graetz, whose name "Testamatta" — Italian for "crazy-head" — reflects his bold, creative, and passionate approach to winemaking.
The grapes are drawn from hillside vineyards ranging from 400 to 600 meters in altitude, with vines between 35 and 80 years old. Fermented with natural yeasts and hand-punched six times per day, the wine undergoes a maximum of ten days of maceration before aging in barrel with no new oak, preserving the purity and transparency of the fruit. The result is a wine of striking clarity, expressing the mineral character and terroir of Tuscany's stony hilltop soils.
Testamatta is consistently awarded 93–98 points by major critics, including James Suckling (98), Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (95), Wine Enthusiast (95), Jeb Dunnuck (95, #42 Top 100 of 2025), and Wine Spectator (94). The wine offers aromas of kirsch, blood orange, strawberry, rose petal, and dusty earth, with silky fine tannins, lively acidity, and an elegantly long finish. Best enjoyed now or cellared through 2035.
