Cabreo Il Borgo is a celebrated Super Tuscan red wine produced by Tenute del Cabreo, part of the Tenute Folonari estates in Tuscany, Italy. First released with its 1982 vintage, it stands as one of the pioneering Super Tuscans that defined the "taste turning point" of Italian winemaking in the early 1980s. The wine is a Tuscany IGT blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, with Sangiovese contributing elegance, Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure and depth, and Merlot adding softness and roundness.

The grapes are grown at the Zano estate in Tuscany, covering approximately 60 hectares planted in clay-rich soils. Vines are trained using a low spur-pruned cordon system at a density of 3,000 to 5,000 plants per hectare. Following harvest, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with maceration lasting approximately four weeks, then aged for a minimum of 24 months in French oak barriques before further refinement in the bottle.

In the glass, Cabreo Il Borgo pours a deep ruby to red-purple. The nose offers a harmonious interplay of red rose, morello cherry, and incense, with secondary fruit and tertiary wood aromas. On the palate, it is velvety and well-structured with never aggressive tannins, delivering flavors of dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla, and hints of toasted wood on the finish. Bottled at 14.5% ABV, this wine is built for long aging with a shelf life of up to 20 to 30 years. It has received a 92-point rating from Wine Spectator.
