Ilegal Mezcal Joven is a handcrafted unaged mezcal made with 100% Espadín agave by fourth-generation mezcaleros in the Santiago Matatlan Valley of Oaxaca, Mexico. This artisanal mezcal is double distilled and bottled immediately after distillation without aging, preserving the full-bodied agave character.

The flavor profile features eucalyptus and mineral aromas complemented by hints of green apple, fresh citrus, and red chiltepe pepper. A very light smoke emerges and disappears throughout the tasting experience, accompanied by notes of anise and white pepper. The mezcal is consistently smooth with a lingering heat and distinct notes of Espadín agave throughout.

Ilegal Mezcal Joven was awarded Double Platinum, the highest award, in the ASCoT Awards, where it was blind-tasted and scored for appearance, aroma, taste, and finish. This premium mezcal is ideal for cocktails such as Oaxacan Old Fashioneds and margaritas, or perfect enjoyed on its own as a sipper. The bottle features a signature green wax-sealed cork that can be opened by gently pushing the sides with your thumbs until the wax breaks.
