The Phoenix Roebelenii, commonly known as the Pygmy Date Palm or Dwarf Date Palm, is a graceful tropical evergreen palm native to the river valleys of southern China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. This specimen is offered in a 10-inch pot, making it ready to display as a striking indoor or patio accent.

This slow-growing palm features elegant, arching pinnate fronds measuring 24–45 inches long with approximately 100 soft, fine-textured gray-green leaflets that gently droop at the tips. Trunks develop a distinctive rough, gray bark covered with peg-like leaf bases. Note that lower leaflets are modified into sharp spines — use caution when handling. Outdoors in warm climates (USDA Hardiness Zones 10–11), the plant reaches up to 6.5 feet tall and 5 feet wide; as a houseplant it typically stays 5–6 feet tall.

Care is straightforward and low-maintenance. Plant in moist, well-drained soil and provide medium to high indirect light, protecting from hot afternoon sun. Keep the soil slightly moist during the growing season and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. This palm prefers medium to high humidity and should be kept away from cold drafts. It is non-toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
