Littlemill 40 Year Old Celestial Edition is an exceptionally rare single malt Scotch whisky from the long-closed Scottish Lowland distillery. Distilled on October 11, 1977, this is the oldest Littlemill release to date, with only 250 bottles produced worldwide. The whisky was matured in American oak and first fill bourbon barrels before receiving a brief 3-month finish in Oloroso sherry casks, creating an excellent balance of distillery character and wood influence.

This 40-year-old expression presents a complex profile with clear, pale warm amber color. The nose reveals sweet and earthy notes with an unusual meaty undertone reminiscent of forest floor, leaf litter, and white truffle. Abundant dried fruits include dates, raisins, and figs, complemented by red currant and dried rose petal. Subtle green apple, stewed pear, star anise, cinnamon, Brazil nut, and hazelnut oil emerge with time, while a flash of struck match hints at the sherry cask finishing. The palate continues with cooked fruit, gentle spices, and plenty of dried fruits and nuts, along with a unique savory component. The finish is dry and leathery with oak spice and sandalwood, punctuated by occasional notes of white peach, nectarine, and currant.

Each Littlemill 40 Year Old Celestial Edition decanter is crafted from hand-blown Glencairn Crystal, hand cut and individually engraved with its unique bottle number. The presentation includes a solid brass stopper made in Glasgow with premium fleur-grade cork. Packaged in a snow-white presentation box with star map lining depicting the night sky above the former Littlemill Distillery on the bottling date. A 5cl sidecar sample is included for tasting. Bottled at 48.6% ABV.
