The Castelli del Grevepesa Clemente VII Riserva is a 100% Sangiovese wine from the prestigious Chianti Classico DOCG zone in Tuscany, Italy. Named in honor of Pope Clement VII (Giulio de' Medici), a member of the Florentine Medici family who once resided in the Campoli area of the Chianti Classico region, this wine is produced by the respected Castelli del Grevepesa cooperative winery. Each case contains 12 bottles of 750ml and is imported by Votto Vine Importing.
This Riserva is aged 50% in traditional Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months and 50% in smaller French barriques for 12 months, delivering exceptional complexity and depth. The wine opens with inviting aromas of red and black cherry, strawberry, licorice, mint, and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and earth. On the palate, it delivers rich, smooth flavors of dark fruit, pomegranate, and dark chocolate, supported by lively acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long and savory, with lingering spice. It pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, grilled meats, and aged Italian cheeses.
Multiple vintages have earned scores of 90 or higher from leading publications, including 93 points from Wine Spectator and 94 points from James Suckling, making this an exceptional value in the Chianti Classico Riserva category. 14% alcohol by volume.
