Matanzas Creek Alexander Valley Merlot is a premium red wine sourced from high-elevation vineyards in Alexander Valley, bringing tension and power to the blend. This is a blend of different blocks from four distinct vineyards, all fermented and aged separately to create a complex and balanced wine.

The 2021 vintage offers notes of violets, marionberries, and fresh plums with hints of black cardamom pods, cedar, green tobacco, and white sage. The wine is medium-to-full bodied with a silky smooth texture and supple tannins that make it approachable yet sophisticated.

The blend composition is 97% Merlot with 3% Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, adding depth and structure to the wine. Matanzas Creek Winery was founded in 1977 and is located on the site of a retired dairy farm in Sonoma County's Bennett Valley, with a modern winemaking facility established in 1985.
