Château Vieux Chaigneau is a red Bordeaux wine from the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France, just north of the celebrated Pomerol region. The estate produces a classic Right Bank blend led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon contributing structure and depth. Each bottle is 750ml.
This wine opens with attractive, rich plum and dark-berry aromas and delivers assertive, energetic red fruit on the palate, underpinned by very long, polished tannins. Concentrated blackberry fruits and natural acidity balance ripe, spice-accented tannins developed through careful wood aging. The result is a well-structured, age-worthy wine with impressive power and elegance. The 2016 vintage received 93 points from James Suckling and 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, with critics noting its excellent balance and cellaring potential.
Lalande de Pomerol is widely recognized as one of Bordeaux's finest value appellations, delivering the richness and terroir character of its renowned neighbor Pomerol at more accessible prices. Château Vieux Chaigneau practices sustainable viticulture and holds Terra Vitis certification, eschewing chemical fertilizers in favor of environmentally responsible farming across its six-hectare estate.
