Mark Ryan Winery's Crazy Mary is a distinctive red wine from Washington State's prestigious Red Mountain AVA, one of the most acclaimed wine-growing regions in the Pacific Northwest. Produced by Mark Ryan McNeilly, who has crafted wines in Washington since 1999, Crazy Mary is typically a Mourvèdre-dominant blend, sometimes including Grenache sourced from the Quintessence Vineyard on Red Mountain.
The wine is named after a song by Victoria Williams, famously covered by Pearl Jam — one of Mark Ryan's personal favorites — lending the label a Pacific Northwest rock-and-roll spirit. Mark Ryan only produces Crazy Mary in vintages where the fruit quality and conditions meet his high standards, making it a vintage-selective release.
Crazy Mary exhibits a deep purple color with an elegant, full-bodied profile featuring aromas and flavors of blueberry, caramelized black cherry, licorice, and peppery spice. The Mourvèdre grape delivers a profile reminiscent of Syrah but with additional complexity and structure. Past vintages have earned scores as high as 93 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Each 750ML bottle is ideal for pairing with lamb, game, grilled meats, and bold-flavored dishes.
