Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso is a prestigious 100% Cabernet Franc wine from the Bolgheri DOC in Tuscany, Italy. First produced in 1989, Paleo is the flagship wine of the Le Macchiole estate, founded by Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli. Originally a Bordeaux blend, it became a Cabernet Franc monovarietal in 2001 and has since been hailed as Italy's best 100% Cabernet Franc by Decanter Magazine.

The name "Paleo" refers to a wild herb found along the Tuscan coast, symbolizing the wine's deep local identity. The grapes are sourced from estate vineyards trained in guyot and head-trained systems, with yields of approximately 800 grams per plant. Fermentation and maceration take place over 25 days in concrete tanks, followed by 16 months of aging in a combination of new oak barrels, conical trunk casks, and stoneware amphorae.

On the nose, the wine offers aromas of dried leaves, eucalyptus, smoke, incense, cassis, and blueberries. The palate reveals firm tannins, full body, a dusty texture, crisp lifted acidity, and a chewy finish. Le Macchiole stands alongside Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Guado al Tasso as one of the most prestigious estates in Bolgheri.
