Wapisa Pinot Noir is a distinctive red wine from Patagonia, Argentina, produced in the Rio Negro appellation near San Javier — the only coastal wine-producing region in Argentina, situated just 25 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. This unique terroir imparts an elegance and restraint rarely found in New World Pinot Noir.
The wine was crafted with influence from Jean Claude Berrouet, the former longtime winemaker of Château Pétrus. It pours a pale ruby and opens with aromas of spicy black cherry. On the palate, it is light to medium bodied with flavors of cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, finishing with hints of vanilla and light oak and supported by good natural acidity. Rated 93–94 points by James Suckling across multiple vintages, it represents exceptional value at its Costco price point compared to the $20–21 retail elsewhere.
