The Calling Patriarch Pinot Noir is the flagship wine from The Calling, a premium Sonoma Coast winery co-founded by CBS sports commentator Jim Nantz and Peter Deutsch of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. This full-bodied, single-vineyard Pinot Noir hails from Sonoma County, California and represents the pinnacle of The Calling's winemaking program, earning the winery more than fifty 90-point scores since its inaugural 2012 vintage.
On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of black plum, dark cherry, earl grey tea, and smoky herbs, layered with hints of raspberry, pomegranate, and sea spray characteristic of the Sonoma Coast. On the palate, robust tannins frame flavors of dark sour cherry, pomegranate, citrus peel, and cocoa, accented by dried thyme, baking spice, forest floor, and orange rind. The wine finishes long and complex, with a rich, viscous texture that rewards both immediate enjoyment and cellaring.
This 750ml bottle has received a score of 91 points from Wine Enthusiast, with critics noting its densely built structure, coastal influence, and depth of flavor that sets it apart from lighter-styled Pinot Noirs.
