Kern's Derby-Pie® is an authentic chocolate nut pie handcrafted in Louisville, Kentucky since 1954. Leaudra and Walter Kern and their son George created the first Derby-Pie® dessert at the Melrose Inn in Prospect, Kentucky, and to this day each pie is made one at a time according to that legendary secret recipe. It is the official pie of the Kentucky Derby Festival and carries a federally protected trademark.

Each 9-inch pie features premium semi-sweet chocolate and choice English walnuts folded into a decadent filling, then baked in a delicate, flaky, buttery crust. The pie is fully baked and sold frozen, serves eight, and can be enjoyed sliced frozen, at room temperature, or warmed briefly in a conventional or convection oven for a flaky crust. For best flavor it is served warm but not hot, and pairs well with whipped cream.
