Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV) and produced by Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. This twice-barreled expression takes the award-winning Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon to new heights by finishing the fully matured spirit in a second, custom toasted new oak barrel — a process that adds an extra layer of sweet oak complexity that distinguishes it from standard charred-barrel bourbons.

The bourbon pours with a rich roasted-pecan color and offers aromas of toasted oak, rich caramel, pekoe tea, new leather, cinnamon, cedar, and jasmine. On the palate it is big, rich, and complex, with warm notes of peach preserves and brown sugar giving way to delightful spice and pepper, milk chocolate, and a subtle hint of smoke. The finish is long, nicely warming, and lingers with chocolate, baking spices, and dried orange peel.

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel has earned Gold medals at the International Spirits Challenge (2022) and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2021 and 2022). It is best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its sweet oak complexities, though it also pairs well with smoked pork, salty snacks, and dried fruit.
