The Pedestal is typically a blend of approximately 75–84% Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, aged 22 months in predominantly new French oak (75–86% new). The wine showcases a deep plum and purple hue with an opulent bouquet of dark currant, black cherry, espresso, dark chocolate, and cedary herbs. On the palate it is full-bodied and luxuriously textured, with velvety tannins, layers of dark stone fruit, mocha, and savory spice, finishing long with excellent concentration and balance. Critics across multiple vintages have awarded scores ranging from 92 to 96 points from publications including Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Vinous, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Spectator.
