The Braided Sansevieria (Dracaena angolensis, formerly Sansevieria cylindrica) is a striking, sculptural houseplant native to West Africa. Its thick, cylindrical, spear-shaped leaves grow upright and are artfully braided together into a bonsai-like presentation, creating an exotic conversational piece for any home or office. Sold in a 6-inch grower pot (1.4 qt / 1.3 L), it arrives ready to display.
This plant is exceptionally low-maintenance and highly forgiving, making it ideal for beginners and busy plant enthusiasts alike. It thrives in bright, indirect light but adapts well to low-light and even artificial lighting conditions. Water sparingly — approximately once per month — allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot; during winter months, watering every two months is sufficient. It prefers temperatures between 60°F and 85°F (15°C to 29°C), low humidity, and a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix with perlite. During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every two to three months. As a succulent, it withstands drought well and requires minimal maintenance.
Sansevieria plants are toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
