Chateau Latour is one of the world's most storied wine estates, a Premier Grand Cru Classé (First Growth) situated in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, France. Founded on land with viticultural history dating to the 14th century, the estate produces wines of extraordinary power, precision, and longevity. This set contains three bottles of the 2009 vintage, each 750ml, from the celebrated Pauillac appellation on the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary.
The 2009 vintage is widely regarded as one of the greatest in Bordeaux history, and the 2009 Chateau Latour earned perfect 100-point scores from the Wine Advocate, James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, and The Wine Independent. The blend is composed of 91.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.7% Merlot, fermented and aged in new French oak barrels, with 13.7% alcohol by volume. Grapes were harvested from September 23 through October 10, 2009, during one of the warmest and most abundant Bordeaux growing seasons on record.
The wine pours a deep opaque garnet-black color. Aromas leap from the glass with bold blackcurrants, black cherry preserves, warm plums, blueberry, camphor, cedar chest, aniseed, clove oil, graphite, truffle, and tapenade over a waft of tilled black soil. On the palate it is full-bodied and powerfully structured, with super-ripe, grainy, perfectly integrated tannins, jaw-dropping concentration, and a long, wonderfully minerally finish with impressive salinity. Experts estimate peak drinking through 2070–2080, making this an extraordinary collector's wine.
