Torre Zambra Madia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a classic Italian red wine produced by Azienda Agricola Torre Zambra, one of the most historic cellars in Abruzzo, founded in 1961. The wine is made from Montepulciano grapes rigorously selected from vineyards on the hills of Villamagna, Abruzzo, at an altitude of approximately 200 metres. The unique south-west vineyard aspect, limestone and clay soils, and a privileged location between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea contribute to the wine's excellent structure and complexity. Yields are kept under 140 quintals per hectare to ensure quality. The wine is certified organic, vegan, and sustainable.
Grapes are harvested in the first ten days of October and macerated in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to extract deep color and flavor from the skins. The wine then matures for one year in concrete vats, followed by three months of bottle refinement before release.
The wine presents a deep ruby red color with characteristic purplish glints. The nose is clean and expressive, showing aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and jam, with hints of violet, spiced cherries, and bitter licorice. On the palate it is supple, warm, and well-balanced, with firm, tight-grained tannins and fresh acidity that carry through a pleasantly long finish. It has earned 92 points from James Suckling and 91 points from Wine Spectator. An ideal everyday food wine, it pairs well with pasta, grilled meats, pizza, and a wide range of Mediterranean dishes.
